Colin is a Chartered Engineer and spent several years in the gas industry before setting up his own consultancy company. He also manages his family’s property business.

He is committed to maintaining the traditions of the Painters’ Company and to continue its links with supporting the Arts, via the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, Scholarships at four London Art Colleges, and School Art Prizes.

His family is closely connected with the City Livery Companies: his father-in-law, Douglas Hobday, was Master of the Painters’ Company in 1988 and his wife and daughters are all Freemen of the Painter-Stainers and Liverymen of the Loriners’ Company.

Sport is one of his interests having been a County Badminton player from a young age and Colin now enjoys playing both tennis and golf in Camberley where he lives and is a past Captain of the Painter-Stainers’ Golf Society.

Colin has a keen interest in MG cars having rebuilt a TF and an MGB and enjoys driving when the weather is good but puts the hood up at the first sign of rain! In recent years he has started to play bridge and swims regularly.

He is a member of the City Livery Club.
