Hugh Beattie

Hugh Beattie is a traditional oil painter who works on a wide variety of subjects, including portraits. He studied at Chelsea and Camberwell Art Colleges and went on to develop his classical technique at a teaching studio in Florence. Hugh works on commission as well as his own compositions. Patrons range from individuals buying from Hugh’s collection to large organisations who commission complex figurative works to describe their mission and achievements. Inspired by the old masters, Hugh brings new vitality to the art of composition light and natural colour. In portraiture he enjoys the conviviality of painting his subjects from life, his sitters look at ease with themselves and the paintings show humour and humanity.A selection of Hugh's work is now on display on his website and his studio can be visited by appointment.
